What is CBD?

CBD is a non-intoxicating compound that has been produced by a cannabis plant. Cannabis is typically associated with the effects of the THC compound, or the high that results but CBD offers all of the benefits of cannabis without producing the high that a lot of marijuana products produce. CBD products are used by several types of patients and you can more easily figure out the dosing since the effects of the products are typically mild.

While both of these compounds can offer pain relief and therapeutic effects, there are quite a few differences between the two. The main difference being the feeling that it will produce. THC is known for the high that quickly follows while CBD is known to have most of the same effects without producing the high feeling. CBD can also block the intoxicating effects of THC in hybrid products which makes it ideal for first time users.

There is also a difference in CBD and THC when it comes to the legality of the products. Most places have legalized CBD use and it is federally legal throughout the United States but it can depend on the state you’re in if it is legal or not. THC is only legal for recreational use in select states and has yet to be legalized federally. This difference will be important to research for those that are just getting into the medical marijuana world.

CBD, much like THC has a variety of uses and can help with a variety of ailments, both mentally and physically. For those struggling with anxiety, CBD has been known to have calming effects that will help to ease this ailment. CBD can have effects on the serotonin levels and can help you to more easily navigate the feelings of anxiety that you may be experiencing. CBD has also been known to help patients that have been dealing with insomnia. Most patients experience insomnia will do better with a higher dose of CBD but starting out with a lower dose is typically recommended so you can work up to the perfect amount.

Aside from mental benefits, CBD has also been known to help with pain. It has typically only been helpful in dealing with two types of pain, inflammatory and neuropathic. CBD products can be used to help with outward pain of only a certain variety but can still be useful in providing an alternate way to treat your ailments.

Much like THC products, there are a variety of methods when it comes to how to use CBD. Unlike THC, there is no flower or bud of CBD that you can smoke, but there are a variety of other methods. For those used to THC products, you can try CBD methods like edibles or vapes. These are just like the THC products but they feature primarily CBD instead. Both of these techniques are some of the most popular methods and they make it relatively easy to figure out what will work best for you.

Aside from the typical vapes and edibles, CBD also comes in the form of oil and also topical treatments. The oils encompass a side variety of products and these oils can be used in a variety of ways. You can drop the oils directly under your tongue for a more fast-acting option or you can mix it into food or drinks. The oil gives you the freedom to choose how you will use your CBD. As for topical treatments, these can be found in the form of lotions, gels, and balms. These can be applied directly to the area on your body that is in pail and can help relieve inflammation and soreness. With this wide variety of methods, you can rest assured there will be a consumption method to suit your needs.
